7 THINGS TO DO IN WHILE IN COLLEGE

                                      

You finally got that admission into an institution of higher education and so you look forward to being a student on campus while enjoying yourself before graduation.

The college/university experience could be fun depending on your choice of entertainment and extracurricular activities.

You gain not only academically but also get a chance to build your career and expose your talents through various networks and college activities including Sports, entertainment and the arts. Even the business side of you can also be developed while you are still in college or the university.

Here are 10 great fun things you should do before graduation from that Ivory tower. Enjoy as I draw up personal experiences from my student days in

college and university. You can actually tweak them to suit your lifestyle.

1.       AIM FOR THE BEST GRADE

This should be your ultimate goal of being in college… Graduation with distinctions! You are going to encounter a lot of paparazzi and ideas that may be totally new to you and if you’re not careful, you tend to be carried away. No matter what I did in school, I never forgot my aim of being there. Good graduation grades have a foundation at the very beginning which is your first year in college.  Don’t ask my grades at graduation……won’t tell (wink).

2.       LIVE OUT YOUR FANTASIES

You can’t be too serious or you may be tagged a bookworm. Lighten up, do what you’ve always wanted to do. Be careful the kind of fantasies you try to live out so you don’t get into trouble. My own college fantasy was to have sex with a girl in an empty class one rainy evening and I almost lived it through till I and the girl were caught by college security. I was lucky to go unpunished.

3.       CREATE A BRAND

College/university could be where you get your first set of clients so you should maximize the spread effect of being from various locations and of different backgrounds. This has a viral effect of spreading your brand to a much wider audience. Just do something unique you think people would love and ask for their opinion after making it better. You will be amazed at what their positive response to what you can do.

I started www.naijawhistle.com while in the university and my name changed from George to Naija Whistle but I loved it because it helped to sell the brand and make it popular.

4.       GET YOUR IDEAL MATE

With so many people around in college with diverse views and characters, it is likely you will find someone having the potentials of becoming your man or woman. The campus environment gives you the chance to pick that “golden fish” out of the many in the river. You may not have such great choices to choose from later on. Some of the world’s famous and great marriages started while in college.

5.       JOIN A MOVEMENT

You have causes that you are passionate about right? There are good causes and bad ones. You choose where you want to be. Get involved as it is fun and helps to boost your confidence. Just a word, stay positive in all you do.

6.       BUILD A STRONG NETWORK OF FRIENDS

The friends you make while in school could become very powerful people in the future.

Most of your contacts later on in life should be age long college contacts. I do not have to emphasize the advantage of having a strong network of friends.

7.       EXPLORE YOUR ENVIRONMENT

This will do you a whole lot of good. Depending on how big your institution, you can choose to discover a new place or somewhere you’ve never been on campus or you can decide to go on a road trip with some friends.
